  April 5th, 2008  The Midwife Center for Birth & Women's health is having a Let Them Eat Cake Fundraiser event.  They're looking for volunteer help.  It's hosted by Pittsburgh's Children's Museum.  Interested?

In Community-Based After-School Program

 

 

Title:  Community LEARNS Tutor

 

Job Summary: Tutor 9th – 12th grade Peabody High School youth who are voluntarily participating in the Community LEARNS afterschool program.  Tutoring includes math and literacy tutoring and homework help.  Tutoring and academic credit recovery software utilized, training provided.     

 

Type of position:  Paid part-time (can also be structured for internship, field experience, etc.)

 

Position Start Date:  Immediately

 

Work Schedule:  Flexible -  Tutoring offered to students 2:45 PM – 6 PM Mondays – Thursdays and 10 AM – 3 PM on Saturdays.

 

Community LEARNS Site Locations: 

 

·   Bloomfield-Garfield Community gyActivity Center at 113 N. Pacific Ave. (15224) in Garfield

·   Mt. Ararat Community Activity Center at 271 Paulson St. (15206) in East Liberty

·   Peabody High School at 515 N. Highland Avenue (15206) in East Liberty

 

Ideal Candidate:  We are looking for motivated individuals who want to work with urban teens to help them realize their potential, raise their GPA’s, and increase their math and literacy standardized test scores.

Hey guys,
  The Pittsburgh Community Food bank has many volunteer opportunities.
   Here is a great way to help the Food Bank and play in the dirt at the
same time!!
    WE HAVE A NEED FOR 3-5 VOLUNTEERS FOR:
   WHAT :Mixing soil/compost and filling buckets for the Balcony Gardens.
We'll work
out on the back docks (near dumpsters). Can do rain or shine.
  WHEN: Week of 5/7: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri; week of 5/14: Mon, Tues, Fri.
Best time
would be 10am-12noon, but  could do later in day if volunteers available.
